Dedicated to the memory of Al Bassett
Arleigh (Al) Bassett, 91 of Wilton, NY passed away Wednesday, January 18th at the home of his daughter in Bradenton, Florida with his family by his side.
Al was born in Canaan, VT on September 4, 1925, a son of Arleigh L. & Lora Bassett. He is survived by his wife, Esther Bassett, of nearly 70 years, whom he married on March 21, 1947. He resided in Wilton, NY for the past 15 years.
He was a devoted husband, a caring father to Patsy and her husband Gary Richards of Bradenton FL, Wayne Bassett of Milford, NH, Jeanne and her husband David Ballestero of Wilton, NY, Joyce and her husband Dale Harlan of Ollala, Washington, and “Poppa” to his 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Pauline Chappell of NH and Kaye Morgan of MD.
Most important in his life was his faith in God, his family and the many friends they met with.

Dear Esther, and, your wonderful family.
Peter and I are very thankful for the blessing we've known, in having you and Al as part of our lives. We will always remember Al's gentle spirit, kindness, his endearing smile, and his thankfulness for all God has done for him. We have been extra privileged to have you both in our fellowship meetings. We will feel the loss of the spirit of his presence. He may not of spoken much in the last years, but his spirit spoke volumes. We will miss him immensely!
And, dear Esther, we hope you may find peace, rest and comfort in the memory of your dear husband. You were wonderful in your care of him. We have loved you both. I hope we can help support you as you need when you return to our north country. You will be much in our thoughts. Love, Pete and Charlotte
